The CEO of Tesla, Elon Musk, has joined the board of directors of Twitter. Musk has become Twitter’s largest shareholder. Parag Agrawal put out a tweet welcoming Musk “Looking forward to working with Parag and Twitter board to make significant improvements to Twitter in coming months!” In response, the former CEO of Twitter, Jack Dorsey, tweeted, “I’m really happy Elon is joining the Twitter board! He cares deeply about our world and Twitter’s role in it. Parag and Elon both lead with their hearts, and they will be an incredible team.”
Elon Musk’s Promise:
Following Elon Musk’s announcement of joining the Twitter directory, the tweets flooded in. People were offering ideas on how Musk could improve Twitter. One tweet was regarding the crypto spambots. “Elon, you need to do something about these crypto spam bots; they’re getting really annoying. Improving the verification system to prove that you’re an actual *real* human would help this.” Elon Musk agreed and pointed out that this is probably the “single most annoying problem on Twitter.”
Musk has mentioned these crypto spambots several other times. They have repeatedly appeared on his tweet threads to promote crypto giveaway scams. Musk put out a tweet on Feb 1st, 2020 on this, regarding this issue. “The crypto scam level on Twitter is reaching new levels. This is not cool.”
Besides the crypto spambot issue, Musk brought attention to another upgrade he’s looking into implementing. He put out a poll on Monday asking his followers, “Do you want an edit button?” The CEO of Twitter added, “The consequences of this poll will be important. Please vote carefully.” The result of this poll was that 73.6% voted yes.
Some individuals are not confident Elon Musk will improve Twitter. A user tweeted that the changes Musk makes may not benefit everyone. He emphasized that the Tesla boss “seems self-centered.” Another person tweeted that he may quit Twitter if Musk takes control.
