Sam Bankman Fried has plans to open a new business. In an interview with BBC Bankman, Fried was questioned whether he has plans to start a new business to give back to FTX investors and customers. Bankman Fried replied, “I would give anything to be able to do that. And I’m going to try if I can.” He went on, “I’m going to be thinking about how we can help the world, and if users haven’t gotten much back, I’m going to be thinking about what I can do for them. And I think, at the very least, I have a duty to FTX users to do right by them as best as I can.”
The collapse of the crypto exchange FTX resulted in losses of billions for approximately one million customers. Bankman-Fried has claimed that he didn’t intentionally mix up customer payments or commit fraud in his business. He told the news outlet. “I didn’t knowingly commit fraud, I don’t think I committed fraud, I didn’t want any of this to happen. I was certainly not nearly as competent as I thought I was.”
There was a question about whether the former FTX boss was ready to serve jail time. He replied, “There’s some time at night ruminating, yes, but when I get up during the day, I try and focus, be as productive as I can, and ignore things that are out of my control.”
His Supporters
If Bankman Fried launches another business, at least one individual has committed to supporting him. Bankman-Fried is one of the top traders in the cryptocurrency industry, according to Mr. Wonderful from Shark Tank Kevin O’Leary. He and hedge fund investor Bill Ackman are sure that the former FTX CEO didn’t purposefully cheat anyone.
The FTX exchange paid Mr. Wonderful an estimated $15 million to become their spokesperson. In addition, the Shark Tank star secured about $8 billion in an attempt to save FTX prior to its collapse.
The Royal Bahamas Police Force placed Bankman-Fried under arrest after the U.S. filed criminal charges against him and his previous business.
